One of the things I do in my spare time is try to figure out how to save enough that I can retire while I am still young enough to enjoy it, and I follow a number of personal finance blogs in support of that goal. It's amazing how often the public library is mentioned as a resource.
Tonight I was scanning my RSS feeds when this post from JD Roth over at Get Rich Slowly caught my eye.
The whole concept of the Fail blog is pretty funny, although it's hard to imagine there are people who have no idea we exist!
I love how JD takes the opportunity to make a pitch for Using the Public Library - and it sounds like he has a great one in his community.
I was intrigued by this comment by JD Roth about library lending practices: "You can borrow passes to zoos and museums." Do you know of any libraries that do this?

I think that in communities that have mueums, zoos, etc. some libraries have developed partnerships with those organizations whereby they purchase passes that they can then "circulate" for use by library customers. Not sure how it would work in PV - we would probably want to approach places like the LA Museum of Natural History, the Bowers Museum, etc.
