Maintenance
Maintenance, and by that I mean the effort it takes to keep things in good condition, has been on my mind a lot lately. Partly that is because we have been working on PVLD's mid-year budget update and our forecast...

Pack up your worries....
Although it isn't always obvious on the surface, I am a worrier. Even relatively minor things, like giving a presentation or chairing a meeting, can wake me up at night as my subconscious churns through what I need to do...

The future of reading - teen edition
lol, the joke's on her. that little girl probably jailbroke her Kindle weeks ago and jacked her local library's entire collection to upload to her public fileshare.

I get it, but these kind of cartoons do make the library-card side seem a bit patronizing, no?
First off, a library card is not a device.
Second, my cell phone will soon be about the size of a library card.
Third, the paltry collection that ebook vendors offer and the weird check-out "limits" that library patrons get from them are nothing compared to what's available for ebook readers. The only benefit is that it's free.
Fourth, comparing a library card with a Kindle is like comparing a television and a Blockbuster card. The card itself does nothing.
It's a good thing that this is a one-panel cartoon and that the little girl looks too polite to tell that lady a little something.
